You’ve Heard Of Tahiti, But You’ve Probably Never Heard of This Island Paradise

I’m in love with the finer things in life. I used to keep all these awesome gems to my close circle of friends, but I’m opening up my beautiful mind for your perusement 😉 If I had to pick the first place I’d choose to vacation in – I would have to say the island of Mauritius.

Located off the shores of Southern Africa, this beautiful island nation is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. While I do love Bora Bora and Tahiti, the fact that this tropical getaway is located in the motherland takes this to the Top of my list.

It is mostly known as being the only home of the dodo bird. The bird became extinct 80 years after its discovery. smh. Typical european BS. It is home to a myriad of unique animals and flora. I LOVE a beautiful natural habitat and the little that remains is still absolutely breathtaking. Learning about the history of the Island, and the effect foreign plants, animals, and humans have had on its indigenous population is quite heart breaking. Currently, only about 2% of the native forest now remains. However, there are small islands that are mostly untouched within the nation that you can easily visit to experience a trip back in time.

English and French are the most common languages, but French is dominant and used in education and the media. That is another reason why this is at the top of my list. I’m always looking for  place to practice my french.

Learn more about Mauritius – add it to your bucket list. enjoy the good life ❤
